July 3, 2025 - Alaska
Wild Animal Conservatory

On the drive back to Palmer/Wasilla, we stopped at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a refuge for sick, wounded & orphaned animals that offers visitors a chance to see wildlife up close.

A white wolf.  Hard to photograph through the chain link fence.

A black bear snoozing on a log.

A Bald Eagle unable to fly but has a home here.

A Coyote on the prowl.

Big bison hide.

Musk oxen doing what they do.

Looking down at a Black Bear on the move.

This Bald Eagle is not a resident of the conservation center, but apparently he does like to hang out here.

Different type of bears.  Polar, Grizzley (or Brown), and Black.

A Brown Bear walks right by us!

He paid no attention to us.

Be careful, Brenda!

Good looking Bear!

Elks with huge racks.

A Wood Bison (as opposed to Plains Bison) herd at rest in a large field.

Walking the Conservation Center.

Sitka black-tailed deer.

Sitka black-tailed deer are the second smallest deer in the nation, second only to the Key deer found in the Florida Keys.

Mule Deer enjoying the nice day.

Porcupine!
